I usually agree with you on most points, Dennis. However, many of these lawsuits are frivolous, if not embarrassing. Some of our bylaws are damn stupid too, which enact people like "Mr. Sign Man" to grab a sleezy ambulance chaser for some extra cash in his pocket. Don't you think that, in some of these cases we asked for it? If a dumb bylaw is passed, and some greedy jerk is watching--BAM! There we go--right into the courthouse.
Now, I have only heard one side of the Severance Trucking issue, and that side has made the entire lawsuit ridiculous. I don't know any other story than the one that has been posted on other boards, or told to me in person. If it is true that, someone with connections couldn't sleep one night, causing the lawsuit in to transpire, that makes it ridiculous. Then again, was there anything else that caused this, other than gossip and innuendo's that have already been given? Shouldn't the taxpayers be given the knowledge of what they are about to pay for? (And you know that, somewhere down the line the taxpayers will get the bill for these suits).
Some of these lawsuits make sense. Others just don't hold water and have more holes in them than SpongeBob's head. The sign issue is totally ridiculous. Like most ridiculous lawsuits, it will probably pay out in this current world of greed that we live in.
I don't think the firefighter lawsuit is unfounded. Let's just say that, I know more truth on that situation than I will ever say--Go, TRACY!
The building inspector--I kind of look at that one as I would the prisoners in the state pen. EVERYONE is innocent, no matter who they are, when it comes to losing a job. I think all of us that were let go, laid off or fired would love to blame everyone else for the situation. Some of us just don't run to a lawyer. Then again, if his story is correct, I hope he gets what he is seeking--I just wish the ones directly involved would be the ones paying out of their own pockets.
I hope you don't mind but, I will be watching this board from my new town. You have to admit that, Dracut is a very..well, interesting place to live to say the very least.
