Hi Mike,
I appreciate your input. Yes, I know exactly what neighbor you are speaking of, and I hope the 'ecological' problems will be taken care of as well. As I said in my posting, there are many that are doing this on purpose. My developer did the same thing--he paid no bill, put everying in someone else's name and claimed bankruptcy. It isn't those types I am speaking of.
I was proud of Dracut, for they never stooped to this level before. Lowell, I expect. Lowell cares very little about those that live there, but took neighborhood societies (one run by my cousin, Barbara Palermo) to make that city look decent once again. I am talking Dracut--a town that was took pride in its citizens. The old Dracut cared. The new Dracut seems to be catering to the wealthy (to just look at the homes being built, you know that) and it isn't right.
I know many of those people on that list, in all different parts of town. Some are in my neighborhood, while some are just lifelong acquaintences. Many have been displaced and unable to find jobs, above $8 jobs in the area. Most are over 40 and can't find jobs.
All are the ones that voted the current officials into office.
One person on the list is elderly and unable to volunteer for the town for a cut rate in taxes. Let's face it--our water bills are high BECAUSE of some sneaky politician, and through no fault of our own. You won't ever see HIM struggling. He is set for life with a fat pension check that the same taxpayers, listed in those pages are paying for.
The school super won't appear there. She doesn't live in town. Those that are paying her paycheck are listed there.
I guess I have to realize that, Dracut has changed. It is no longer the town I knew as a teen, nor will it ever be again.
Sad but, I am going to miss it here--however, before they could list me on the Dispatch article, I am lucky to be able to move. It wasn't an easy decision. However, the town would be the last to help me out if I was suffering, financially. I think what they did is humiliating, and far below anything I have ever seen them do.
Let's list the scumbags that are trying to make fame and fortune, defaming good citizens in this town, selectmen and town officials included. Let's not list those that are fighting so hard to keep a roof over their heads, but stuck in our current economical times.
Nothing will ever make me believe this is right. It is inhumane, and it is government, once again, showing their power over those that have none.
I will be watching the boards and hopefully, I will still be allowed to participate. I may be living elsewhere, but my heart will forever be in the town of Dracut.
Give me an email at the one above, okay? I do want to say goodbye before I leave.
Take care,
Kelly (forced out of Dracut, because of the current rate of taxes)
