In reply to: Carrie 's message, "Let's talk about dying" on 13:55:31 08/18/01 Sat

"Does the fear of death diminish? Do you know yourSelf to be eternal...has your perspective changed? DO you know more about what will happen when you leave your body? Does any of this matter once you are aware of your Divinity? ...how the movement into second birth and beyond changes one's perspective on all this."

This reminds me of a story. The morning I woke up and KNEW that I was awake I ran to the bathroom where my husband was taking a bath and announced: "Guess What! I'm AWAKE!" Well he was nonplussed and said something like, "that's nice dear." But then he thought a minute and asked me if I now knew what happens after death. I checked in with my brain to see if any new information about this had arrived with my awakening and I discovered that I was as ignorant about this as I ever was. "I woke up only to discover that I am a total idiot," I went around saying for quite awhile.

So it seems to me that there is no new information to be had about death upon awakening, but there is a new sense of myself as ALSO that which doesn't die (in addition and simultaneously to being that which does die). What I find then is that as Me/Being I have no fear of dying, but as me/Cassie the same fears still arise. The difference now is that Cassie is not alone with these fears anymore.

Thanks for asking these questions, Carrie. It is so helpful to feel around for a reply.
