Subject: Outlaw Nations

I had the disturbing experience a few minutes ago of talking about the middle east (Iraq) with the night security guard here. What he had to say was very unsettling. He began to liken the attacks on American and Coalition forces in Iraq to the attacks perpetrated against Israelis, and spoke one-sidedly against the Palestinians.

I quickly retorted with the with fact that Israel is an "Outlaw Nation" in the eyes of the U.N., and that much of the world views the United States as an "Outlaw Nation" because of our continued support of Israel's illegal persecution of Palestinians. I pointed out the fact that Israel has no constitution, yet gurantees Palestinians within it's borders the same rights as Jews. I then told him of Israel's laws which prohibit the leasing or sale of property owned by Jews to "non Jews", and asked him how he would like to live in a country in which he would never be able to own any land, and worse, be told that he had to get up and leave the home he did have because it is part of a new "security zone."

After pointing out these simple few facts, I told him that I do not share his estimation of the Palestinians involved in conflict with Israel. I told him that I believe Israel is as much of an instigator as it's neighbors. Both sides are to blame.

If we are supposed to be a lawful nation, with a greater state of enlightenment than the third world, then attrocities committed by either side of a conflict are equally deplorable. Besides that fact, how can we continue to support a nation that violates the human rights of it's own citizens based on their denomination (or lack theof)? How is Israel any different from Nazi Germany or South Africa? And isn't our support of Israel's government proof of our nation's hypocracy?

It saddens me as an American to know that I live in a nation that can be so blind to injustices committed by counties on one hand, and invade a country for the same injustices on the other.

It saddens me further to hear another member of our armed forces speak as I just heard this man speaking. He said that if "They" are willing to blow themselves up, or worse yet, have their children blow themselves up, just to fight against us when "We" went there "to help them," then if any man woman or child came running up to his vehicle while he was there, he would blow them away on the spot. Without thinking, he would be willing to kill a child! What if the child was running up to warn him of an imminent attack? Or to ask him for some food?

War is ugly. If the media were allowed to show real pictures of American and Iraqi dead, then this war would be over within a month. I am not condoning any violent action that another nation or its people may take against mine or my people. However, how else are these people supposed to fight? They see us as invaders, the same as Israel. These religious zealots will fight us the same way they fight Israel. They are out-trained, out-equipped, yet determined to battle against us at all costs. They believe strongly that we are there to exploit them and destroy their way of life. Wouldn't most of us give our lives for our county and our way of life?

This American won't swallow the line of maneure that condemning Israel for it's inhumane treatment of its own citizens and surrounding populations of palestinians, ending our multi-billion dollar support of Israel, is anti-semetic. Israel is an outlaw nation, and so is America as long as it continues its support of Israel. Israel is a corrupt country, not the home of the Jews.

As far as Iraq goes, I fail to see how realistic the expectation of success is as long as our nation continues to behave in a manner inconsistent with its own rhetoric. I think our best bet for success is to demonstrate to these Muslims that we really do believe in freedom of religion by ending our support of Outlaw Nations like Israel.
