First, Welcome back to your group Rob. I haven't been here in a long time.. in fact I don't even think I ever posted anything here before.

I have a subject for discussion that warrants the opinions of the readers here; and that is our country's renewed interest in space exploration.

This is a subject that I feel very strongly about and have always criticized our government for. I think we should already have colonized the moon and be building our more massive exploration vessels there or in orbit around the moon. I remember being a student in 1987 and hearing the universities conservative estimation for colonizing the moon in 1995, and a manned mission to Mars shortly following.

Over the past weeks since the landing of Spirit, and the subsequent announcement by Bush that he plans on sending us to the moon in 20 years, I have had many conversations with Tony about the reasoning behind our ambitions.

I am going to hold my opinions back for now and ask all of you what you think of putting people on the moon and beyond, and of course, some supportive arguments about why you feel that way.

Peace, and god speed to uncle Jimmy in his quest for fart smoking sightings.
