It was $1200 total, which included a laser sight, the flare launcher (which I didn't really care much for) and 2 magazines. It compares to a Bushmaster, which is the same price brand new, but this has an actual flash suppressor (the slots at the end of the barrel). Additionally, the rifle may not be brand new, but it has very little wear and tear (I completely disassembled it at the gun dealers). He is my youngest (my wife is a month pregnant btw- so it won't be for long). He's 2.5 years old.

Well, a few things. My weapons are stored unloaded (exccept my pistol, for protection) the ammunition is locked up, so unless they can conjure some up or pick locks I'm not worried. I have a 20 gauge pump shotgun and a 9mm pistol for protection. Additionally I have a Winchester Model 94A lever action rifle (.44 cal), a Ruger 10/22 semi auto rifle(.22 cal), a browning bolt action .22, and a Remington bolt action .243. My new rifle is for recreation and to begin a collection of military style rifles.

You can order rounds in bulk and they aren't that bad. I found a site that if I order 1000, they are about $.12 a round. Still more expensive than a .22. Ammunition has a pretty long shelf life and I love to shoot, so I'll probably order some.

I let my 4 year old fire my .22, but that is with me holding the gun to control what he aims at.
