Subject: mint tea and other herbs haven't caffeine as far as I know, but I heard often already that it wouldn't be healthy to drink 1 litre of some herb daily - which is the amount I do usually drink of tea, I have a thermos where I prepare my tea in the morning and have some cups over the day. So, they say, that herbs do have components which are called actually "drugs" that do have a therapeutical effect. So, if you choose a sort of herb-tea you should be aware that you're "treating" your body with a very light "drug", but still a therapeutical drug. It can have health benefits, but enjoyed too much of some can have again uncomfortable side effects. It made sense to me, since in the past many sicknesses were treated with herb-teas! That's why I like the Rooibos so much, they say it's completely healthy and good for your body. I prefere black English tea though ;-)
In reply to: Brenda 's message, "Herbal teas do not have caffeine. You can also get most regular types of teas in a decaf form as well. Most coffee houses serve chai tea lattes, but they are not the herbal ones, they have caffeine. The one I get from Oregon Chai comes in an orange tetra-pak and says caffeine-free on it. Licorice is not good if you've got high blood pressure but very good for coughs and feels good on the throat. I think I'll have to brew some rooibos later.
