Hey — this is like vuja de, or something. I just posted a reply to this thread over at the Alpha Board! :)

Thank you, Girl Guide Jones, for providing this post throughout these last weeks of Buffy. I've managed to stay spoiler-free, more or less, and it has been helpful to know that others have been struggling to do so, too! Strength in numbers and all that jazz.

As I mentioned in the Alpha post: I didn't really start watching Buffy regularly until last winter. I started watching the new episodes with Gone. I had seen a little bit here and there on FX but hadn't really gotten into it at that point. I had seen enough to know who Spike was, and when I saw "Gone," I was like — woa! Is Buffy having sex with Spike?

And then I borrowed my neighbor's copy of Once More with Feeling, and that was it. I was totally hooked. From that point on, I started watching and taping all of the previous seasons on FX reruns with a passion that can only be described as "obsessive!"

I quickly found Buffy sites on the Internet, including this board, and was basically spoiled for the rest of Season 6, but I made a decision early on to be on spoiled this season.

So, in what would be truly one of my only unspoiled moments of BtVS (because, in watching all of the reruns of previous seasons on FX, I had an idea of what happened to everyone):

When Andrew killed Johnathon. I was totally like, "what the . . . ."

In watching the reruns, I remember being pretty shocked by the scene in Passions where Angel kills Jenny Calendar.

Also, as Peaches mentions, hearing that zipper in Smashed. Whoa!

Also this season, in Dirty Girls, I was somewhat shocked by the scene where Caleb pokes out Xander's eye. Though I had an idea that Xander was going to lose an eye (based on a few tidbits that I had picked up here, accidentally), I still wasn't prepared for that scene, and I totally kicked my husband. Hard.

Thanks again for providing the Solidarity Thread, GGJ!

As one who is semi-spoiled grey and likes it, I have to thank you for these posts. I read an interview with one of the cast and he kept referring to BtVS in the past tense. And I thought, öit really is over." I'm by nature a very unsentimental person and yet I felt a kind of bittersweet melancholy. No new Buffy to look forward to next September ever again. My younger daughter who is the other Buffy fanatic in my house told me, with tears in her eyes, "I have been watching this show since I was eight. I'm going to miss Buffy."

I am going to try to get into Angel. A lot of the issues that have been raised on Buffy over the past few years are probably better explored on Angel. The affair between Wes and Lilah compared with Buffy and Spike for example. Does it really matter who loves you, if you can't love yourself etc. But it won't be the same as I don't know the characters.

The most shocking moment for me. Two stand out. One is the scene in Spike's crypt at the end of OOMM. Buffy stalks in, stake at the ready, only to end up in his arms. She wants him, he loves her and that just about sums up the relationship. The fact that it is Spike's dream is just icing on the cake. He has set the parameters of their relationship himself and the second he realizes he loves her.

The second was the murder of Jenny Calender by Angelus. I suspected, although I had never even heard of a spoiler or knew there were people on line who liked to discuss Buffy, that Angel would be brought back to the good somehow. But I realized then that Angel, despite the pretty package, was always going to be dangerous, good or bad.
