Hi Mathew your boxer is still a baby and they mature really slowly. 30lbs at 4.5 months old does not sound small at all but your vet would be the best judge of this.. boxer pups are relativly thin until they hit at least a year old than they start to fill out. my boy is 16 months now and all his ribs still show and so does his spinal bones but he is 68lbs so who knows, his vet say's he is perfect but i don't like seeing ribs...

the condtion is actually called " Demodex Mange" here is some info on it, click on this:

http://www.trader.co.nz/vizsla/9810/demodex.htm

it is common in puppies and is caused by a weakend immune system. my friends dog just got over it and he had to have 6 dips and now he is all healed and healthy. the dips smell really bad and they actually use an insecticide on your dog to kill the mite. she got really allergic to him after the dips and got a rash so she had to pet him with gloves and hold him with a towell, but this does not happen to everyone. work with your vet closely and they will make sure its gone. he will also get a series of shots to kill the mite as well the Mitaban dips. he will fully recover and be a fine pet... it does take time and sometimes it can come back and reoccur everyone I know who's dog had it was able to get rid of it after a month or so of treatments...

good luck with your boxer, do you have pictures to post for us, we would love to see him...

Lisa
