I apologize for the confusion. I stated this in a thread of its own (i.e., no responses) a while ago, which seemed to be the last of this issue until it was raised again in this thread. I am not commenting on each and every board member, nor even the majority. My comments are directed at a few who happen to be the most vocal on the boards. Here is an excerpt from that post:

"No, I'm not speaking of every single participant of the GAFF fora, but I am referring to the loudest sentiment expressed within the GAFF fora (which may not necessarily reflect the majority, but it's still what's heard and seen above all else)."

I don't agree with the "fight fire with fire" mentality, either. But I was not referring primarily to flaming trolls (especially since the GAFF board was designed for both agreements and disagreements with GAFF). I was referring primarily to the board members who flame badfic authors directly and unprovoked, and not in response to flames.

>I thought this board was here to mock badfic? to snark

I define "flame" as a personal insult, or remarks (usually derogatory, mostly unfounded, always irrelevant) made about the recipient's personal life.

My first discussion on flames was in the "Ho!mione gets raped" thread on the InvisionFree board, in which I openly disagreed with flames sent to the author of that story.
