Actually, there is be a far greater ability to categorize and form subcategories in a tiered format. The sequential format (e.g., InvisionFree) only allows for categories, subcategories, and then sequentially-structured threads (i.e., all posts contained within a single thread). Great for discussion, but poor for information/resolution dissemination.

The tiered format allows for posts to be separated so individual posts can be responded to and evolve subcategories/threads of their own. Not so good for coherent discussions, but perfect for information/resolution presentation.

No, it was my mistake for not clarifying. By "this refers" I meant "this quote refers." Sorry for the confusion. :)
