Umm, the haiku is probably, actually, sorta, all my fault.

*Anne ducks to avoid flying tomatos.*

You see I like haiku, and I had this really clever idea (you know how those always work out), that it would be fun to have Voyager haiku. So, I hold a haiku contest on my site each year in the hope that people will decide they like haiku and learn to write it.

This has met with limited success but much enthusiasm. I had 171 entered one year. I archive the haiku so all the past entries are up with the author's credits.

And so this isn't totally OT, my favorite category is "Mary Sue Haiku". I rationalize it -- I'm doing my bit to make fandom safer by giving people a 17 syllable opportunity to get it out of their systems. ;-)

I also wrote some Haiku. Feel free to have fun with my meager offereings. I'm definitely an amateur poet, and I think Squirrelly has all but lost hope. http://annerose.cjb.net/contests/haiku_main.html
