Stories like those scare me, because I'm afraid the girls who write this crap will grow up into women who believe that if they can get their current BF to change his job, his friends, his wardrobe, his attitude, his apartment, his everything... then he'll be their perfect Mr. Right. And worse, they believe he'll be forever grateful for being turned into Mr. Right, because he's a loser now.

Such women scare me because they're doomed to failure. Few men want to be fixed, the overwhelming majority want to be wubbed just the way they are.

I mean, can you imagine if some Mary-Sue tried to change those characters? "WHAT??? But if I got dermabrasion I wouldn't be able to scare your grandma! These burn-scars MADE me! Without them I'm just a snarky guy with wierd gloves!"
