Subject: 'Those Characters that I have known'

I think that I must have drank with the majority of the characters and eccentrics that were about in our days of our youth. Each one holds a special memory of times that seemed less complicated, when you could say what you mean't without further recourse of being sued for deformation of character or for sexual misconduct. Where you learn't more about a person over a drink than if you had known them for all your life. Some of these people suddenly came to life when the barriers came down especially partaking of alcoholic liquid refreshment. I think that I am privileged to have seen some of these characters in full flow, a truly unforgetable experience.
Of course sadly nowadays would not be deemed as appropiate behaviour in a society that cares more about status and money than individuals. As Bob Dylan wrote 'the times they are a'changing'....but, unfortunatly not for the better!
I sometimes wonder what this generation will remember about their youth, and characters they had known, when they get to our age! A lost generation, some might say!
I still consider that we have lived through the best times during the sixties and seventies, when life seemed so exciting, the music so inspiring and memorable, and the company and camaraderie of those times being so important in developing us all into the people that we are today!
Anyway, as Brummie Dave would say, rant over!.......What say you?
