Subject: When my husband wanted to learn to drive.......
In reply to: Laney 's message, "My dad took me ...inside" on 00:26:42 01/25/02 Fri

I told him he'd have to sign up for driver's ed night classes, because I didn't want to end our marriage after less than 7 years and three kids. 8^) I knew my limit of patience and that I'd be screaming if he had a "near miss".

Anyhoot, he enrolled, but when the class started, he and 2 others were told they'd have to come back for the next session because they were short 1 person to make a multiple of 4 to a car. So I told him to go back and sign me up so they could get it over with quick, as I was tired of being a "cabbie".

The day before the next class, I fell and broke my wrist, so had a metal splint on my arm. (I was allergic to the plaster cast; they had to remove it in the middle of the night.) I told the teacher I didn't want to take driving and that I had my license for years, but just signed up so the guys could get into class, so he said he'd give me my "roadtest" that night and get it over with, but I'd have to show up for all the classes anyhow.

So, after having me drive downtown and do a parallel park and a 3-point turn, one-handed mind you, he told me that I passed with flying colors and to get in the back seat. That gave each of the guys more time each session for their practice sessions, and I got to "go out with the boys" three times a week for several weeks while a sitter watched tv with my kids. hoo hoo hoo!
