I just need to share this

One day, eight short years ago
A baby girl came into my life.
"Please take this child and protect her "
Was the plea of a mother that couldn't.

I took her into my arms, my heart, my life, my home.
I loved her as if she were my very own.
I rock her and held her and watched her grow.
She grew in my heart and in my very soul..

Now eight years later, she was taken from me
By a mom that is now able but not willing to protect her.
She is allowing her lover to abuse this child of "mine"
And now I'm the one that is not able to save her.

My very soul cries out in pain
For the child that grew so close to my heart
why, why was she taken away
from a family that loved her from the very start?

My heart is empty, my days full of grief.
I want to save "my" child again
I want to take her in my arms
And shelter her from all the harm.

I love you my Katie. I always will.
Please feel me holding your heart each day.
Be a survivor. Hang on, my dear child
Then come back to me when you can, I pray!
