Ravin continued to smile under the blanket of coarse hair that hid much of his face as he finished slicing the beef. Why shouldn't he smile? He was surrounded by good friends and good food, and had a damn good bottle of aged whiskey nearby. What more could a man want? A wife and plenty of kids to come home to each night? The thought instantly turned his smile upside down. Sighing, he grabbed the whiskey bottle, taking a long drink before lifting the food tray and following Laurel into the dining room.

After mouthing a greeting to Corum and Tia, the thief sat down then sunk his teeth into one of the sandwiches. His eyes drifted to the zombie slaves that were in the process of removing the dead bodies from the room. Why had only certain zombies attacked them? That was a puzzle that begged to be solved. And, what the hell has become of Erlic?

The guildmaster fled the room after gazing at a small pocket mirror and had been gone for quite a while now. When Ravin finally voiced his concern about Erlic's whereabouts, Eremis told him what he found in Dalo's room. The thief was relieved to learn that both men were fine and resting comfortably. He went back to eating his sandwich then met Laurel's eyes. "You're the first druid I've even had the pleasure of meeting," he said, grinning. "Is it true that druids prefer to live in a forest where they can take care of the trees, plants, and animals that reside there?"

Tia smiled at Rowan when he sat down beside her, then turned her eyes to Corum. She was worried about him because he seemed to be awfully confused at the moment. Maybe that bump to his head had knocked something loose in his brain!

She placed a sandwich before the skull-staff wielder before moving next to Eremis to share a brief, whispered conversation with him. When the healer assured her that Corum's confusion was probably only temporary, she sighed in relief then returned to her seat between him and Rowan. Since Corum made no move to eat, Tia took a bite from the sandwich then convinced him to do the same. She held a wine glass to his lips and once he drank a little, she continued to feed him, hoping he would regain his senses soon.

"What in the world happened here?"

Everyone looked up at the sound of the voice and found the Queen standing just inside the door to the room. She listened intently when Ravin spoke up, telling her how they were besieged by some of the zombies. "A few of our companions are upstairs now, recuperating from severe injuries they received at the hands of your monstrosities."

Kazabet ignored the sarcasm in the man's voice and approached one of the dead bodies. When she waved her hand over it while mumbling some strange words, the illusion vanished, revealing a human corpse. "The Jangali Royani!" the Queen hissed. "They have attacked my home using illusionary magic!"

She turned to a number of her zombie slaves, ordering them to take all the bodies to her lab, before they went about cleaning up the mess in the room. "They shall make an excellent addition to my undead army!"

Anger was evident on the Queen's face as her eyes scanned the once beautiful dining hall. "Come, Rowan," she said, her gaze falling upon the elf. "You will escort me to the rooms of the injured so that I can speed up their healing with my magic."

Tia felt a pang of jealousy as she watched Rowan accompany the Queen from the room. Silently, she chided herself for the silly feeling then turned her attention back to Corum.

Kazabet was silent during their journey to the second floor of the Palace. The first room they entered belonged to Tristan, who glared at them with tear-filled eyes. "I have come to accelerate your recovery," the Queen said, before casting her spell upon the dragon.

Without waiting for any response, Kazabet slipped her arm through Rowan's, and together they made their way into Dalo's room. Once again she cast her spell over the men, smiling when the beastmaster's eyes fluttered open. "I have seen the extent of your injuries with my mage sight," she told him. "Because of my magic you will feel almost as good as new by morning." Dalo fell back into a deep sleep, his body healing at triple its normal rate now. Kazabet and Rowan left the room as Erlic awoke, feeling quite invigorated already.

A look of surprise crossed the Queen's face when they entered the next guestroom to find Marz and Jeremy entwined together on the bed. Since someone had kicked off the covers, their youthful, naked bodies where in plain sight, making Kazabet's mouth water a bit. "I hope to find us in exactly the same position later on tonight," she whispered to Rowan before casting her spell on the pair.

Jeremy was the first to open his eyes. His initial shock at seeing Rowan and the Queen in the room faded quickly. After giving them a sheepish grin, he glanced at the still sleeping Marz. "We're in love, you know."

Kazabet giggled. "If he wakes, he may be groggy due to the rapid healing that is now taking place in his body, but that severe wound in his back will be completely healed by morning." She winked at the otherworldly youth then pulled a rather stunned looking Rowan back out into the hallway. "Oh, to by young and wild again!" she said, giving him a kiss on his cheek. "I'm off to freshen up now and hope to see you in my bedchamber later." The Queen ran a finger down the elf's chest then hurried away. Her zombie guards joined her near the stairs and escorted her to her quarters.

Marz was in a daze and more than a little confused when he opened his eyes to find Jeremy smiling at him. Without warning, the youth kissed him rather aggressively. I must be dreaming, Marz thought, when he felt inexperienced hands grope at him in an obvious heated frenzy.

He really wanted to wake up from this crazy dream, but for some reason it wouldn't release him. Suddenly, his body began to respond to the clumsy manipulations of the otherworldly youth. Marz couldn't understand why the hell he was having a sexual dream about Jeremy instead of Tristan, or someone else that he found more desirable. I'll try to figure that out after I wake up, he remembered thinking before getting caught up in the wild dream again.
