Valhorek had been busy preparing various herbs for collection into his master jars so that he would have an ample supply on hand available to him. He was quite surprised to see Dalo, and Eremis back along with a woman he didn’t recognize. The truth was explained by Dalo, who whispered to him the urgent need of a good healer that wouldn’t cower during battle.

Valhorek felt sorry for Eremis. Deep down the older healer realized that Eremis could, if he put his mind to it, become a very good healer, for he already showed the necessary signs needed for the task at hand. However, Eremis still had to combat the inner demons that haunted, and plagued him to no end. Ever since he was attacked in Bizmar, and nearly lost his ability to speak, the youth had engaged in a love for alcohol in order to drown out his fears. This did nothing to help the youth’s self confidence, something that was needing some form of uplifting for quite sometime now. Valhorek had hoped that his trip to Neromba would ease his fears, but as it appeared, the boy still had his own problems to work out. Perhaps without the tension that was normally faced in a day-to-day scenario, he might at least excel in the healing department.

Since Eremis had worked with both Val, and Foran, he didn’t think the elf would mind instructing the youth as best as possible. Val scribbled a note since Foran was busy at the moment. Once this was done he assembled his healing kit, making sure that all the necessary herbs, bandages, and other medical implements were ready, and that he wasn’t missing anything. Considering the climate of the land he would be going to, he quickly decided to get some different clothes that would be more comfortable, and yet shield the body from the sun’s hot rays.

Valhorek made sure that all of his weapons were ready, and armed before stepping out into the tavern to have a word with Nicklar. He asked the mage if he would send a message to Ruban Rashaad, who was now navigating his ship the Azusa, and to ask the man to alter course for Neromba, where he would meet him, or contact him upon his arrival. Nicklar nodded in understanding. Valhorek smiled, and thanked the mage.

Valhorek approached Queen Kazabet, and explained to her that he was ready. The duo walked outside until they reached an area that was uninhabited. The queen worked her magic, and both were immediately teleported to Neromba, where they appeared in front of the palace.

Val’s first impression was not so much the grandness of the palace, or the hot sun, rather it was the presence of so many undead. He wasn’t sure how to react, but since the queen simply took it in stride, he merely replicated her actions, and followed her into the palace. Once inside Val was quite impressed with the many wonders that lined the walls, and tables of the palace, richly decorating the décor of the magnificent building. The woman was quite rich, and the healer had to wonder why she would be out here in the middle of nowhere. His reverie was interrupted when the queen stopped, and turned to him. “That is the door to the dining room,” the queen informed him. “Your friends are probably in there. Please, join them, and the offerings I’ve made available to all the guests. The rooms are on the second floor. Simply feel free to take which ever is vacant.” Kazabet then smiled, and retreated to her study.

Val walked into the dining room, and immediately got a glimpse of the group at hand. He immediately strode toward Erlic, smiled, and offered his greetings. Erlic stood up, and introduced Valhorek to those who didn’t know him. The assassin was about to pour Val a glass of wind when he suddenly stopped in midstream. “Sorry Val, I forgot about your unique tastes in alcohol,” Erlic stated with a smile. He walked over to the cabinet that housed the liquor, and returned with a bottle of whiskey, the healer’s number one choice of drinks. “I think this will do quite well,” Erlic stated to the healer while pouring him the whiskey.

Once Val was seated, Erlic basically brought him up to speed about Queen Kazabet, the undead, and the mission they were about to undertake. Val listened intently; trying to absorb all of the information Erlic was giving him. He asked a few questions here, and there, but basically had no problems. He had traveled with Erlic before, and was quite used to the types of adventures they had been on in the past.

“I had Nicklar alter the Azusa’s course to Neromba,” Valhorek advised Erlic. “This way we’ll have use of a ship should the need arise.” Valhorek had used the Azusa before for many different reasons. Ravin had been married aboard her, they had traveled to Neromba to fight the geomancers, and other adventures too numerous to mention.

Once Erlic finished, Valhorek bit into a pastry, and drank some whiskey, even though the appearance of the undead made him feel a bit uneasy, but he was sure he’d get used to it.
