"No wonder everyone is so upset about his capture," Isobel said. "Not only is he a friend but an innocent. I hope he will stay that way."

Ravin nodded, trying to fight off the guilt he felt. "I feel somewhat responsible for Eremis' fate. Erlic and I decided that it would be better having a more experienced healer traveling with us so we more or less convinced Eremis to return to the tavern when we learned that Val was willing to join us." The thief sipped his brandy and sighed. "Eremis would still be safe if he had stayed with us." Now why couldn't his silly visions warn him of what would happen to the young healer if he returned to Bizmar?

He nibbled at the food on his plate while watching Saras dance. The genie appeared happy for a change and that immediately brightened Ravin's mood a little. A smile played on his lips when he felt Isobel kiss his shoulder, but it turned into a frown when she said something about him writing to her after the quest was over. Did that mean they would be parting company after they brought the branches to Kazabet?

Ravin turned to face the beautiful woman, a worried scowl displayed on his face as he met her eyes. "I was hoping you wouldn't have to leave after this quest was over," he whispered. "I had this crazy idea in mind that I would take you to Bizmar once we finished in Neromba so that you could meet my family. You'd love the Rovers, and I already know that they'd love you."

The thief took her hand in his and lowered his eyes. "I guess it's pretty presumptuous of me to think that you'd want to stay by my side. But nonetheless, I had hoped that we could continue to travel together long after finding those branches. It never occurred to me that we'd be separating so soon. Already I know that I will miss you terribly." He leaned in, their lips meeting in a tender kiss. "Is there any way I can convince you to stay?"
