Erlic was quite pleased that Marz had managed to close the first chakra, although he had already noticed it through the link he shared with Marz. He realized that his student was proud of his achievement, especially since Erlic had made mention so many times of just how difficult closing the chakras could be. Initially he had explained that most people spent years trying to open the chakras to achieve the utmost in bliss, and harmony, but in Marz’s case it was just the opposite. Because of his unusual nature, Marz had to do just the opposite, close the chakras, which would then prevent magic users from tapping into his almost unending magical powers or aura that he possessed. Too many times, the tapping of that particular energy had nearly killed his student, and closing the chakras was the only way to prevent that from ever happening again.

“Very good Marz,” Erlic stated praising the youth with a smile. “This shows that you can indeed accomplish anything you set out to do, whether it be by yourself, or with the help of others.” Even the youth’s mention of attempting the second chakra explained to Erlic that he was indeed going to do his best to achieve the closing of the chakras, and especially with the help of Tristan, his newly found friend, confidant, and lover, the guild master realized that perhaps Marz had found the one person suitable for his own unusual, and sometimes rash behavior. Not that Marz wasn’t normal; it’s simply that when angered, the youth was capable of unleashing his magic without any knowledge of it, sometimes doing potential damage to others, as well as himself.

But he had Tristan, and for that Erlic was quite thankful. He hadn’t approved of Tristan initially, and that was only because the dragon was new at the medieval tavern, and when posed with some questions, simply refused to answer, and stormed out of the place as if they weren’t important. From that time Erlic had kept an eye on the dragon, hoping that he didn’t turn out to be the enemy of sorts. As time progressed, he finally came to realize that Tristan was very much like Marz in some respects, and in some ways totally different. They were a good match up for each other, each drawing from the other when the need arose.

Marz then proceeded to explain what had happened during the night, and how they had managed to materialize in front of Eremis for just the briefest of moments. Erlic simply smiled at the pair, realizing that they had crossed over into the realm of unknown. The unknown was a mystical journey that transcended the ideals of mind over matter, and the ability to focus on the life cord that connected one’s soul, removing it from the body, and traveling the ethereal plane to anyplace one could imagine, providing they had the focus, and the insight to do so.

Erlic turned to the pair. “Both of you did a good job,” Erlic complimented. “And Tristan, you’re as much of an achiever as Marz is, for the closing of the chakra came with Marz’s willingness to venture into the unknown, but not without your guiding hand to lead, and guide him.”

Erlic had to think about the transcending into the other world, and had to think of a relatively simple answer. He was about to launch into a philosophical explanation, but stopped, considering he had tried that before with his student, and Tristan, only to have them look at him with dumbfound expressions on their faces.

“The chances of repeating what you did last night,” Erlic continued. “For extended periods of time, probably wont occur until Marz has closed ALL of the chakras. Yes, there will be times when you will succeed in crossing over into that other world, but chances are that you would have to imitate the state of events that occurred when you did it the first time.” It seemed that Marz, and Tristan were both determined to try that feat again, and that by itself was impressive, but Erlic realized that it wouldn’t always be that easy, regardless of what both of them thought. “The best advice I can offer is that both of you learn to understand the other. And by that I mean a complete, and total understanding of the other individual. Perhaps you already believe you’ve attained that goal, but realize that a total understanding of each other’s ways, feelings, emotions, everything surrounding the make-up of that individual must by known by the other member. Perhaps when that is attained, along with the chakras, you might have a better chance at experiencing what you achieved this past night.”

“I suggest you continue adhering to your practices of practicing, and closing the chakras. Just remember, the more Marz learns how to concentrate, and focus, the easier it will be to accomplish those difficult feats. But I’m sure with your determination, you’ll manage quite well.”

The others had finally gathered around the campfire, and were enjoying their breakfast. Erlic couldn’t help but notice the pleasant expression on Tia’s face, and the sour looks on Jeremy, and Rowan’s countenance. He had noticed that both the elf, and Jeremy had been together at some points during their adventures, but never made any comment about them. It was their decision on what they decided to do, just as it was his own decision to either remain with the group, or go out on his own. He usually never pried in anyone’s business, unless it proved dangerous to the whole group. Then, and only then, did he ever take a stand, and intervene.

Just then the communication mirror with Dalo started to vibrate. Erlic pulled out the mirror, and listened intently to Dalo’s explanation regarding the wanted poster that had been distributed around Bizmar for the capture of Eremis, and Kisa. He thanked the beast master for the information, and told him to keep him informed of any new developments.

“It seems that Eremis is not with Tegol,” Erlic explained to the others. “I’ve just found out that there are wanted posters for the amount of three hundred gold for information leading to the capture of Eremis, and Kisa. That obviously means Tegol is after them, and that also means any gang in Bizmar will do their best to hunt down the two.”

Bizmar was quite noted for spreading the word around to its inhabitants, especially those who were active in gangs. Erlic realized the groups would fan out, and search every hole in Bizmar for that amount of money. To them, three hundred gold, was quite a large offering, and would gain them prestige, another popular achievement on the streets of Bizmar. With prestige, they could claim to be the best, regardless whether they were or weren’t.

Corum proudly stood up in front of everyone, and claimed himself to be the winner of the treasure hunt. Erlic had to smile as the skull staff wielder continued to claim that he was the only one to return within the allotted thirty minutes as noted in the rules, and basically won by default. Corum was another one of those strange individuals. He was a good fighter but Erlic sensed in him something more, yet every time he tried to pinpoint what that might be, it was easily lost. Perhaps that was the reason Barry had entered the picture. The skull had initially stated that he had been drawn to one of the people within the group, and that had turned out to be Corum. But Corum had managed to befriend Marz in ways no one else had managed, and was still considered Marz’s best friend, despite his odd idiosyncrasies.

The group had finally finished eating, and Erlic got the attention of the group. “It seems that searching for the branch of midnight hue will be a huge undertaking, if it’s even in the city. I suggest that we split up into several groups, and try our hand in that manner. At the end of the day we’ll simply meet back at the tower, and we can discuss what has been explored, and what hasn’t. Otherwise, we might be here for a very long time. The only word of caution that I propose is that everyone be careful when investigating any underground areas. No telling what we’ll be finding in this city of ruins. If trouble does break out, I’m sure some of the other members will be close by to hear your call for help.”

Erlic waited to see if anyone had any further questions before the group took off for their day of exploration.
