Subject: Let's get ready to rumble

"I'm such an idiot," Tristan said.

Marz was about to agree wholeheartedly simply to tease his lover but slammed his mouth shut when Tristan went on to say that the second chakra was the key to helping Eremis. Huh? What did closing a silly chakra have to do with anything? He grinned at the memory of what the second chakra was about. Since it dealt with sex (his favorite subject) the damned thing should be easy to close. Those that had something to do with emotions were the ones that really worried him. Messing with the second chakra might make him get aroused easier, but the parchment mentioned one of the others making the student cry a lot. That was the chakra he'd like to avoid at all costs since he refused to let anyone see him acting like a crybaby!

Tristan drew him from his reverie by asking for the crystal ball. No way in hell was Marz going to turn that spying device over to his lover! He would have been in deep trouble if Tristan happened to search for him in that globe while his hands were busy roaming all over Rowan. Of course he had no intention of getting anywhere near the elf again, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

"I'm keeping the crystal on me, Tris," he said, after swallowing some bacon. "You're too obsessed with checking on Eremis every little while and that could be dangerous right now. In more ways than one. I want your complete focus to be on the ruins. Anything could be lurking around up there and we need to be ready to deal with whatever might come at us. I wouldn't want some spider man sneakin' up on your ass while you're busy peering into the damn globe!" He squeezed the arm hooked through his. "We'll check on Eremis together later, cause I want to see what he's up to just as much as you do."

Before Tristan could give him an argument about the crystal, Marz turned to Erlic and told him about the strange out of body experience he had shared with the dragon. He grinned when his teacher praised them for their success at closing the first chakra. Silently, he listened to the rest of what Erlic had to say, his attention waving when he saw Rowan approach the campfire. The elf wasn't his normal, chipper self and that made Marz wonder. Rowan's happy-go-lucky, daredevil attitude had finally won him over and now it was gone. That might be a good thing though because he suddenly realized that he wasn't so attracted to a solemn Rowan. Tristan's rather solemn moods were enough to deal with.

Marz turned his attention back to Erlic when he pulled out the communication mirror he shared with Dalo. He wrapped his arm around Tristan while waiting to see if the beastmaster had more information about Eremis. Finding out that Tegol had a 300 gold piece reward out for Kisa and Eremis was not good news. Every scumbag in Bizmar would he hunting for the healers now. If they were captured, Tegol would have them tortured to teach them how wrong it was to try to leave his organization.

Thankfully, Corum stood up just then, drawing Marz away from the morbid thoughts of his own suffering under one of Tegol's torturers. He frowned when the skull-staff wielder proclaimed himself the winner of the treasure hunt game solely because he was the only one that showed up with the goods after the allotted time limit. Well, Marz couldn't really argue with that so he shrugged instead then finished off the rest of his food.

"Give the stupid idiot his boots and let's get outta here," Marz whispered to Tristan when Argus piped up. The ex-gang leader got to his feet and faced Erlic. "I can lead another group around the ruins, sensai. If we run into trouble I'll mind call you, and you can do the same to me."

After a nod from his teacher, Marz glanced at the others sitting near the campfire. "Whoever wants to be in my group can meet me upstairs, just outside the temple doors." Looking very much like a general about to partake in a war, Marz strode away from the fire and hurried up the stairs. He made his way across the temple and out the front door, surprised to see that it was the middle of the night. Although he wasn't very good at telling time by the position of the stars, he estimated that the sun would be rising in a few hours.

Marz glanced at the larger buildings that stood off in the distance. A quick search of each one sounded like a good idea. Isobel seemed to think that the branches grew in a dark place; therefore they'd have to make sure they found any secret passageways that led to more underground caverns. He leaned back against the temple wall, just outside the door, and waited for Tristan and whoever else was going to join them.
