Argus chuckled softly as Laurel swam up. He hadn't intended to cheat... he'd thought she would be a little quicker on the uptake, having forgotten about the problems of deciphering his accent. But now he'd won and he grinned broadly.

"You wicked creature!" she chastised in a teasing manner.

"Dat wasn't wicked, La'el..." he grinned in moch lechery. "Yew dun wanna see my truly wicked side." He let his eyes linger on her lovely hair... lovely even though it was plastered to her head and shoulders.

“That quite tired me out,” she said as she got out of the water. “And I smell dinner cooking, I think. Let’s go have a bite to eat before the others steal our share.”

He climbed out with her help and they headed for the cooking fires. He felt distinctly uncomfortable parading around in his underwear in front of all these people and had the absurd urge to use his hands to cover himself. His eyes kept flicking over to look at Laurel in her tantalizing garb and he felt himself becoming affected by the sight. He licked his lips, nearly moaning, and forced his eyes away from her. He was only wearing underpants, after all, and his state would be quite obvious to anyone looking. He stopped, leaning over with his hands on his knees pretending to be winded as he calmed himself down.

Finally he stood and, avoiding looking at the way Laurel's breasts and thighs and belly and well pretty much her entire body looked, he got his food and sat down next to Laurel to eat.

“Are all humans on your world as modest as you are?” she asked, giving him a teasing smile.

"Not all. But any decent gentleman would be.... Ay am a cleric, you know. We dun run around half-naked flauntin our bodies...." He realized she might take offense and stopped.

“We used to make fun of them, you know. Humans.” She said.

"Eh?" he said in surprised. Humans?

“The mere sight of one of our bathhouses would stun them so much they could scarcely speak for five minutes. And they thought we were absolutely barbaric, though we naturally considered ourselves ten times more civilized than they were.”

He could feel himself blush as her words conjured up images of scandalous bathhouses with people running around naked to the world having orgies in the water... it was a good thing his plate was covering his lap.

“What about the elves?” she asked him. “What are they like where you come from, Argus?"

"De Elves in Brytonland... dey stay away from us mostly. Ay've never seen one myself, but Ay've read about dem and heard about dem. Dey are supposed to be beautiful beyond words..." he glanced over at her feeling somewhat shy suddenly. "And seeing yew, Ay know it must be true."

He quickly finished his dinner. "Do yew want to rest before we have to be moving on? De others seem to be going into dese houses. Ay tin find yew a bed in one if yew like." He realized it might sound like he was propositioning her. "Ay'd sleep elsewhere, of course. On de couch! Or... in another house if yew like." He was babbling suddenly and shut up fast, looking down at his empty plate. What a smooth talker! He could have hit himself.
