Subject: Can you try redial?

Ravin tried not to let Erlic's words upset him. Maybe there was a reasonable explanation why Dalo hadn't answered the magical mirror. "He might be engaged in a romantic evening with a beautiful woman and simply doesn't have the mirror on him at this moment."

The guildmaster shrugged, but Ravin could sense that he wasn't satisfied with that possibility. Apparently, the beastmaster kept the mirror close by at all times and would know when he was being contacted. "Where's the damn sight when I really need it?" the thief asked, a touch of anger in his voice.

To stop his mind from thinking the worst, he turned back to the wall safe. After checking the contents for traps with his stone and finding none, he withdrew the ruby necklace, ring, and tiara that were inside. "These items are certainly worth a fortune," he said, before wrapping them in cloth and placing them in a sack. Although there were three small bottles of blue liquid also present, Ravin didn't understand the meaning of the symbol painted on each that resembled alchemical markings. Too bad they didn't have mad Max around to help decipher them. Ravin handed the vials to Erlic. "I smell java brewing. Why don’t we go have a cup and then you can try to contact Dalo again?"

The men made their way into the kitchen where they found Tristan, Corum, and Argus present along with Barry. Ravin went to the stove and sniffed at the roast boiling in a pot of water before filling two mugs with java. He handed one to Erlic then they took seats at the table. "Maybe Argus would recognize the markings on those bottles," Ravin said. He took sip of the strong java then sighed, once again wishing that he knew what was going on in Bizmar, and hating himself for not remembering the tunnel entrance to the tavern sooner. "Are you ready to try contacting Dalo again?" he asked, the worry in his eyes matching what he saw on Erlic's face.
