As the women stood looking down at the chest at the bottom of the pit that had been a pool of water, the cavern suddenly shook violently, sending Isobel tumbling down into the pit.

She tucked and rolled, but there wasn't much room and she hit the chest at the bottom then bounced and slammed into the side. The pain in her wrist was excruciating and the wind had been knocked out of her. As the others called out to her in alarm, she could only try to catch her breath.

Finally she called up to them, "I am all right. I may have sprained my wrist, but there is nothing broken, I think." She looked at the chest. "Well... this solves the problem of getting to the chest. But now how do we get it up there? And me, too, for that matter!"

Jade peered down at Isobel. "Hey while you're down there why don't you see what's inside that thing?" She grinned and tossed the key down.

Isobel grabbed the key from the ground where it fell and turned to the chest. "What if it is trapped? I do not think it is a good idea," she said. "Someone should examine it first."

Jade rolled her eyes. "Don't be a sissy! The water guy said it was our reward. It wouldn't be very fair if it had trapped the goods, would it?"

Isobel nodded. "True... it did keep its end of the bargain even though it believed we had answered unfairly," she said. "It is an honorable creature."

She had just bent down to insert the key into the lock on the chest when another violent quake shook the cavern.

"On second thought, perhaps we should save opening this until we get out of here. I do not wish to be buried alive in this place!"
