Saras crept back into the tower, not wanting to bother Tristan and Marz, and not feeling close to Corum or Erlic. The only one he truly felt any bond to, besides his bond to Ravin, was to Jeremy. He decided to look for his friend, since the incident in the kitchen had separated them. He was worried about him now, too. Not knowing what had happened to cause such darkness to hang over them. He wandered about, looking but not having any luck finding Jeremy, which bothered him more then he thought it would. He had become rather dependant on Jeremy for companionship, he realized. Eventually, he came back to the kitchen, where everything had started, and where Ravin was sitting now. His smile at discovering his master faded however, when he that Ravin, like Marz did not seem to be doing well. Intense unhappy emotions poured out of his master, so thick Saras could feel them. There was no need for any empathic ability. He wanted to cry, knowing that there were so many unhappy people about. But he didn’t, because of what Tristan and Marz had said. He shouldn’t cry so much… He chewed on his lip and slunk towards Ravin who was sitting with his head in his hands. He didn’t know if his presence would be better for the thief, or worse. He’d had masters in the past who had needed him close when they were upset, and he’d had those who had pushed him away, as well. But he considered Ravin more then just a master. Ravin had wanted to be his friend, so the genie crept forward, hoping to offer his friendship.
“…ravin?” he whispered. He knew that something horrible must have happened, from the reaction of everyone. Ravin looked up at him, and he knew that the man was in considerable pain.
“Ravin…what’s happening? Why is everyone…?”
He stopped talking, suddenly realizing that words were bad right now. The genie was not the most perceptive creature most of the time, but right now, even he could tell that things were horribly wrong, and it was not a time for words. He sat down in the chair next to Ravin and rested his head on his master’s shoulder, wrapping his arms around Ravin’s. He sat there, not saying anything, and closed his eyes, trying to not think about all the unhappiness around him, and trying not to make a mistake that would make things worse. He hoped his presence would be enough, but vowed not to cry if he was suddenly rejected, and Ravin wanted to be alone.
