Corum already knew what had happened at the tavern. He had been sitting at the kitchen table in the tower, when Erlic had contacted Dalo, and had been given the bad news. Both he, and Marz were asked to step outside of the tower with Erlic. Corum already realized what was about to transpire. He knew Marz all too well, and he knew how much the urchins meant to the ex-gang leader.

Once outside Erlic broke the news to his friend. Marz reacted in a state of complete, and horrid anger, and rage, nearly disintegrating what was left of a nearby wall. Corum had already taken several steps back. He realized that once the massive power inside Marz was unleashed, there was no stopping him until he was finally spent. All he could do was simply watch. It was that simple.

Tristan finally joined him, and kept yelling at him as to where Marz was. As much as Corum tried to tell the dragon where Marz was, Tristan didn’t feel like listening. It was quite apparent that Tristan, Marz’s lover, seemed to be sharing the grief that had enveloped Marz, and didn’t know how to react, or what to do. This was one time when no one, not even Tristan could help his friend. The dragon would simply have to learn patience, and wait, regardless of how indeterminable that time span might be. Marz would return, when was another question, but Marz would return.

True to his word, after a good hour Marz did return, and he was drenched with blood. There was no telling whose it was, but Corum realized it was a combination of both Marz’s, and those unfortunate enough to stumble into his path of rage. He knew Marz would want revenge, and Corum would be there to help his friend in any way possible.

The only thought in his mind during his waiting period was the killing. Why was it necessary to kill children? Wasn’t there enough violence, mistrust, and hatred in the world, as it already existed? One had to show his supremacy by slaughtering a child! Inwardly, Corum hoped that whoever attacked the tavern had died a slow, and painful death, and even if they had, it probably would have been too good for them.

Cold and misty morning, I heard a warning borne in the air. About an age of power where no one had an hour to spare. Where the seeds have withered, silent children shivered, in the cold, now their faces captured in the lenses of the jackals for gold. Suffering in silence, they’ve all been betrayed. They hurt them, and they beat them, in a terrible way. Praying for survival at the end of the day. There is no compassion for those who stay.

Corum knew that if they ever got back to Bizmar, he would have to help Marz. He realized that in order for Marz to gain some assemblance of peace, a fight would have to occur between him, and Tegol, but more important than that, Marz would need his assistance in order to survive. When Marz was this mad, he didn’t think, that was something Corum was familiar with, even though he followed along with his friend. One way or another, they’d figure something out.

Bishop’s kings spin judgment’s blade, scratch “Faith” on nameless graves. Harvest hags hoard ash and sand rack rope and chain for slaves. Who fireside fear fermented words then rear to spoil the feast. Whilst in the aisle the mad man smiles to him it matters least.
