The normally talkative duo, trudged across the ruins of the city, ducking into hiding places as the Sharm showed themselves. Each time, they slowly looked around carefully before exiting their hiding area. It was quite obvious to them they didn’t want to get captured, and had to remain quiet for fear they would be detected, which at this time wouldn’t prove favorable for either of them.

They managed to keep a good distance behind the Sharm, and hid behind a wall, when they saw the priests enter the West Tower. They looked at each other hoping to traverse the distance in time before the door closed, thus preventing them entrance.

When the coast was clear, they ran as quickly as they could, reaching the door before it slammed shut, and managed to enter unseen. They looked around the mammoth place, and could not find the Sharm. After checking the place out they noted the only way up were the stairs. The quickly bounded up the stairs, and came to a screeching halt when they heard voices. There in front of them was a group of Sharm praying to some god. They looked to each other, before continuing upwards, the only other avenue afforded to them.

They were now on the third level, and there were many doors available to them. They had to try and figure out which one would lead them to their prize. Movement made them scurry into hiding as they were rewarded with important information. When the coast was once clear, they snuck in, and hid by the wall, until the Sharm priests left the place, shutting the door behind them. They were in an area with many cells on either side of them. As they approached one cell, they found a naked female shackled to the wall. They stared at her once before looking at each other. They continued onward resuming their search when the taller of the two stopped in his tracks. They had found what they were looking for.

Brat, and Eyes quickly scurried into the cell housing Corum, and made little sounds trying to wake him up. The monkey even tried to feed the youth a peanut, but for some reason, it seemed as if he was asleep. The duo stayed close to the youth as if they were there to protect him.

Once Valhorek had finished up the hairy beast, he watched as Erlic, and Ravin headed off toward the towers. The healer quickly wiped his sword on the creature before heading off to follow them. Once inside the tower, Val remained in the rear, in case anyone needed his healing abilities. It wasn’t necessary for him to be in the forefront, if a battle ensued, he’d be there to make the best of the situation.

Slowly, and carefully the group made their way to the second landing of the tower were a group of Sharms seemed to be engrossed in prayer. It was then that Ravin knocked two priests out, while Marz bashed the heads of two others in Corum’s name.

Val stayed outside the area in case any other decided to come upon them. Somehow, one of the Sharms managed to get out of the way of the group, and met with his fist, which quickly knocked him unconscious. Val readied his sword for any further trouble.

Erlic, and Ravin had quickly made their way to the tower, and once inside did their best to speed up finding Corum. As soon as they spotted the Sharm praying, Ravin closed in for the attack, knocking two of them into an unconscious state. While Marz was busy with his adversaries, Erlic rolled into the midst of the group, and quickly sent his fists flying. Two Sharm were immediately knocked out. As one tried to attack him, Erlic quickly grabbed his neck, and twisted it quickly until he heard the snap of the man’s neck.

Within moments, the Sharm were either dead or unconscious. Just as they were about to ascend the stairs to the east, two more of the hairy creatures appeared, leading Erlic to the observation that the Sharm used them for their work, and must have used some of their spells to influence the creatures. The group made quick work of the two monsters, before ascending the stairs quietly, and very carefully.

They finally came upon the third landing, and noticed there were more stairs heading upward, while on this level there were three doors. Erlic looked around, and chose the door closest to him. He had already donned his gloves, and was searching the area around the door for any traps, finding none. He tried the knob, and found it to be unlocked. The guild master looked around to everyone to make sure they were ready. He peered in to find the room vacant, and was about to leave when an area in the wall caught his gaze. Looking around carefully he entered the room, and true to his suspicions, managed to find the area in the wall was actually a secret door. The guild master checked for traps, and found none, however Ravin had taken out his stone, which glowed a bright color, indicating the door was indeed magically trapped. Ravin glanced at Erlic, and shrugged his shoulders. One never knew just how well magical stones could dispel the magic; after all, there usually was a certain chance that it might not dispel the magic at all.

They tried the door, and it opened freely. They did a quick gaze and discovered it also led upwards. They closed the door deciding to explore it at a later date. They exited the room, and tried the second door, which they found to have no traps, and was unlocked. However, when they entered, they were met with several Sharms.

Erlic rolled out of the way toward the nearest priest coming to rest on his back as his legs kicked out at the man sending him backwards to collide with the nearest wall. The guild master was on his feet immediately as he turned to survey his surroundings. One of the priests was muttering something under his breath, and Erlic let loose a shuriken, planting it in the man’s skull before he could do any further damage. He was able to disable a few more of the Sharms, along with the help of the rest of the group. Once it was finished, the Sharm were either dead or unconscious. Hopefully they would remain this way until they rescued Corum.

They checked the second door. Again, no traps, and it was unlocked. But this time they faced a row of cells, and it seemed they were fortunate, for in one of the cells lay the unconscious body of Corum. Erlic rushed forward, noting the naked woman in the cell opposite that of Corum. The guild master took out his lock picks, and within seconds had the door to the cell open. “Val,” Erlic stated. “You better check him out.”

Erlic then turned to face the woman in the opposite cell who was already standing. In both common, and Nerombian, he explained to the woman they were friends, and meant her no harm. From her appearance it seemed the woman was anxious to have her freedom.

*************

Valhorek had rushed into the cell, and was examining Corum. The youth had suffered two nasty blows to the head, but fortunately nothing serious. The only problem Corum would face when he awoke would be a splitting headache, for which Val could give him some herbs to help ease the pain. “He’s all right,” Valhorek stated. “Just a few blows to the head. He’ll have one massive headache when he wakes up, but other than that he’ll be fine.”

Erlic turned back to the cell with the woman in it. “If we free you, will you keep quiet?” he asked in hushed tones. He had no idea how many more Sharms were in the building. What amazed him the most was that the woman before him was void of any hair. For some reason, either it was of her own choosing, or it was something the Sharms had done to her. In either case she was quite attractive, and he hoped she wouldn't be problematic.

“Well, do we have a deal?” Erlic asked in both Nerombian, and common to make sure the woman understood.
