The dog barked up at the cat on the lady's shoulder. It didn't smell quite right, but it looked like a cat and hissed and spat at him so it must be a cat. He barked loudly at it then ran in circles, stopping with his head and chest lowered to the ground before leaping up and running around again.

He ran over to the nice man who had praised him and sniffed his shoes. Then he sniffed the shoes of a lady who the man was holding. They smelled like magic! The dog raised his head and shoved his nose in the lady's crotch, snuffling.

*~*~*~*~*

Isobel followed the dog along the streets but stopped near a building when she thought she heard a strange moaning sound coming from inside. She peered in a window but could not see anything in the dark interior. The moaning came again, louder this time, as if whatever was making the sound was drawing nearer. She felt a chill. Could these ruins be haunted?

Sudden noise behind her made her jump, but when she whirled around, sword at the ready, she saw that it was only Rowan and Tia and the dog. She grinned as Rowan joked about her being the only one looking for them. "I think the rest have gone after Corum..." her grin faded. "The Sharm have taken him, apparently."

Laurel, Jeremy, and Saras came running up then, and she nodded to them all as she pulled out the map she had made of the ruins. She looked for a large well and sure enough, there it was on the map.

She frowned, trying to concentrate as that dog began to chase after the cat. "Ay! Perro! Stop that noise!" She said crossly before turning her attention back to the map. The dog quieted and ran over to sniff Rowan's shoes. When Isobel looked up again she burst into laughter. The dog had its wet nose shoved into Tia's crotch!

Isobel grinned at the tiny woman. "I think he likes you," she said. Then she sobered.

"The Sharm have taken Corum, and the Centaurs told us they were in the west tower," she said, turning her attention back to the map. "So... here is the west tower..." she pointed to the tower on the map... "and we are here..." she pointed to the area near the large well. Looking up at the others, she said, "We should perhaps get to the tower and assist the others, no?"

She looked around, consulting the map again, and said, "It is this way," before heading off down a street strewn with rubble. As she looked again at her map, she felt a pair of hands suddenly reach out and grab her, pulling her into a buliding. She tried to call out, but a hand clamped over her mouth. The hand smelled terrible and she gagged. Rotting flesh!

"Tasty treats for us to eat," hissed a high-pitched quavering voice.

Isobel opened her mouth and bit down hard on the rotting hand, spitting flesh that had come away in her mouth onto the ground as she yelled for the others. She elbowed the creature in the chest and turned, her sword at the ready. The thing before her was greenish with large eyes that seemed to almost glow in the dim light. It was hunched over and drooling, its clawed hands reaching for her.

"Eeeeeeeet," the thing moaned.

Isobel snarled, "Eat this, ghoul!" as she swung her sword, hacking into the thing's arm. A dark black ichor flowed from the arm but the ghoul continued to push forward. She stepped backward but found herself with her back against the wall and no room to swing her sword. She stepped forward again and with a snarling cry swung her sword, hacking the thing's head off at the neck.

The head dropped to the ground with a dull thud and the body soon followed. It was still twitching, clawed fingers clutching at nothing.

She stepped over the fallen ghoul and looked around. She was in a dark building with a large window that let in some of the moonlight. Littering the floor here were numerous bones, some of which looked like they had been gnawed on. She found a pouch containing four colored gems, a small coinpouch with a few coins still inside, several rings, spent torches, and a number of rusty weapons. A large pack was laying nearby and she picked it up. When she opened it she was startled by a rat which leapt out and scurried away across the bone strewn floor. She let out a yelp of surprise then hissed in annoyance with herself.

The others arrived at the doorway and she grinned. "There seem to be a few useful things here," she said as she gathered the gems, coins, and rings and stuffed them into the pack. To her surprise, everything fit into it including her own pack. It appeared to be ensorcelled with a spell which allowed it to hold much more than its size would indicate.

She shrugged the new pack onto her shoulders and looked around, but there was little else of value. The dog barked at her from the doorway and she headed for the door. "We had better get to the tower," she said. Just as she was about to step out the door a glint caught her eye and she looked over at it. A dagger with a blade that seemed to be glowing a soft white color was half buried in a pile of bones. She retrieved the dagger and headed out, grinning at the others. She felt slightly queasy but chalked it up to having recently had ghoul flesh in her mouth.

As they made their way down the street toward the tower, however, they found their way blocked by six ghouls stumbling toward them, all moaning about wanting to eat. "The undead can be such pests," she said, drawing her sword once more.
