Subject: Good deed for the day
In reply to: Marz 's message, "Anyone for breakfast at 1AM?" on 10:03:35 01/17/02 Thu

Isobel had been dozing lightly, half dreaming about the tests of enlightenment. That started her wondering about her sword again and she had just started to think about it when she heard the unmistakable noises of the Jann milling around camp getting ready. The bray of a camel brought her fully to her senses and she sat up, sliding the blankets off herself and stretching.

Movement caught her attention and she saw Ravin struggling to get up. "Ay! Seņor Ravin, you should not strain yourself!" she said, and hurried to help him up. She was strong for her size and she helped him to his feet, draping his arm over her shoulders. "To the fire, then?" She asked him. He nodded. Ravin is very quiet... he must be in pain, she thought.

She grabbed their packs, slinging them over her other shoulder, and they made their way out to the fire, where others had gathered to eat a very, very, very early breakfast. Oblivious to any staring at her clothing, she helped Ravin settle by the fire.

"I am starving! I am going to the food tent... would you like anything?" She asked Ravin.

"A cup of java would be nice," Ravin said as he looked over at Tia, who was eating off Tristan's plate for some reason.

Isobel nodded and headed off to fetch the food. She entered the tent just in time to hear Jeremy offer to show Rowan his thong. She did not know exactly what a thong was, but judging from the female Jann garments Jeremy was holding at the time, she did not think she wanted to know. She grinned at him. "So... you have decided to disguise yourself as a female Jann, then? I believe you will need to grow considerably larger to pull it off."

She resisted the urge to check under the table, pushing the memory of the dead body from her mind so as not to ruin her appetite. She noted with some amusement that Saras was continuing to eat. Well, he had probably been cooped up in his flask for quite some time. Doubtless that left a person somewhat peckish.

Cheese, sausages, bread, fruit... she piled them on a plate, having no real idea what Ravin liked to eat or how much. She poured a couple of mugs of java and, somehow balancing all the food and beverages, made her way back to the fire looking like nothing less than a scantily clad serving wench, if it were not for the sword and daggers.

"Here, Seņor Ravin," she said, handing him the plate of food and his java. She sat down beside him. "I am afraid we have to share... I did not have enough hands to bring two platefuls." She took a sip of her java. Ahhhh... nothing like a hot cup of the strong stuff to energize her!

She glanced at the Jann who were preparing the camels for the journey. "I hope they do not spit too much," she commented, having had a little experience with camels in the caravan she had just been guarding. She had little hope that they would not smell horrible. They always did.

This of course reminded her of the merc who was presumably still out cold in the tent. "I do hope Justin's stench does not offend the camels too much," she grinned wickedly.
