Isobel heard Erlic announce an hour-long rest and while she knew she could probalby use it she did not think it was wise. She opened her mouth to protest when Ravin spoke up, echoing her sentiments.

"I wouldn't mind carrying Isobel if she's too weak to walk," he went on. "The faster we leave this place, the faster we reach the branches. Once we are away from the Sea of Salt we can slow our pace because the assassins won't know where we are heading from there."

Isobel bristled slightly and sat up so quickly she felt dizzy. Holding her head she said, "I am perfectly capable of walking!" She hoped she did not appear to be too pale as she looked fiercely at Ravin. How she detested feeling weak!
