In reply to: Marz and Jeremy 's message, "Talking with the genie" on 10:02:45 01/15/02 Tue

Sarosh felt the blush in his cheeks when the dragon had mentioned the flask, and hoped that it wouldn’t come up again. He promptly filed it in his head that he and Ravin were going to need to have a little talk. Not only was Ravin going to have to make the flask pretty, he was going to have to find a different story to tell everyone, because it just wasn’t going to do to have the man keep bringing it up. People might begin to think he was a second or third rate Genie. Oh sure, there was the matter of not having any powers, but that was different.

Had Sarosh been less self-involved and more perceptive to people, he would have known that Tristan had purposefully embarrassed him, and taken pleasure in it. Something he wouldn’t stand by. If he noticed it, that was. The Genie simply couldn’t fathom why Tristan might have something against him, and therefore the thought that the youth’s comment had been malicious and purposefully harmful hadn’t even occurred to him. He just naturally assumed that Ravin’s friends would be like himself, and only Tristan had proved to be the exception. For the most part he had been quite welcome into the group.

"I bet that only the most beautiful of genies come from flasks," Marz continued, standing up from where he had been sitting with one of the others. No.. only the cast off useless genies do… he thought. Did they all know how shameful it was?! Were they talking about it to make him feel small?! Sarosh felt his cheeks turn pink at Marz’s comments and wrung his long slender fingers together nervously. He hardly noticed the exchange between Marz and Tristan, but glanced up as Marz moved off to go find the clothes and blankets he had mentioned.

Left alone with the group, it wasn’t moments until two more people he hadn’t met, arrived. Thinking he was going to be embarrassed even more now, he glanced up shyly at them, about to murmer a greeting. Before he could, Jeremy was speaking and introducing himself and another woman.

"I'm Jeremy, and the girl beside me is Laurel."

Getting his first look at Jeremy, Saras’ eyes widened. Jeremy’s hair was like his! Forgetting his embarrassment at the attention paid to his Flask, he suddenly became curious about the young man. He was about to ask about the hair, when Jeremy answered his question, before he could pose it.

"I liked your hair color so much that I begged Laurel to use her druid magic to give me the same color. And, she did!"

Before he could say anything in reply, and could do more then stare openly in admiration at the boy, he continued, winning over the Genie. "Those beads and feathers you're wearing look really cool. You got any extra that you might be willing to trade fro candy, chips, or maybe a cigarette?"

Although he would never admit it to anyone, the Genie was extremely vain and extremely proud of his fashion sense. Jeremy had stumbled upon his one true weakness (besides being the only empowered, flask living genie that is). His vanity and ability to be bought by kind words regarding his perfecting. Basking in the sudden positive attention he forgot about Tristan’s stinging words and grabbed hold of his hands smiling warmly at the boy. “My name is Saras,” he said cheerfully. He would have pulled the boy into a friendly hug, but had learnt from his last master that often, humans didn’t like to be touched He tried to keep that in mind, because he had just met these people.

Freeing one hand long enough to reach into his hair. He pulled free a braid, taking the strand of beads ended with a small gold tassel that had been woven into it. He clasped it to Jeremy’s hands and gave the youth a warm, adoring smile. “A present!” he said. “Because you’ve been so nice!”

"Helloooo there beautiful. How's about knockin' Hoooooly.... Yow! Lady, you're a guy!"

With Jeremy now the focus of his world, and words of advice for how Jeremy should attach the strand of beads to his hair on his lips, Saras didn’t notice the floating disembodied skull until it was already there, talking to him. With a Yelp of fear, he put Jeremy between himself and the skull, peering over Jeremy’s shoulder rather timidly. “I am most certainly NOT a guy little disembodied skull-thing!” he countered, brave now that Jeremy was between him and the thing. “I am, simply, Perfect.”
