Once Erlic had finished throwing his shurikens at the beast, Laurel, and Rowan suddenly entered the cave. Rowan seemed to be the most upset over seeing this type of creature actually alive in the cave. Laurel simply surveyed the situation, and immediately set to work. Her own knowledge of druid magic came into play as she managed to take hold of the situation, empowering her spells to help the others out of what could have been a disaster. The woman’s abilities bode well for the group, and Erlic was thankful for her assistance in the matter.

It was a matter of time before the creature would weaken, and Isobel was the one that finally finished the creature off. Once the creature started to descend, Erlic quickly jumped into the water to retrieve his shurikens, and the one that Ravin threw as well. He finally managed to surface, only to see Isobel approaching the tribal women. He arrived just in time to stay her hand from slaying the woman. As Isobel turned, her eyes met his, and he was sure of her anger as her eyes bored into his own. “The hospitality of these people leaves something to be desired, Frio,” she remarked before walking away. Erlic simply glared at the women before making his leave as well. Many had been injured, and Val would have a lot of work ahead of him. Once he approached the camp, he spotted Ravin, and carefully handed the shuriken to his friend. “Perhaps we should discuss the topic of how to throw them another time,” Erlic stated with a slight smile.

Corum thought he would have the last bash when suddenly he was shipped away from the creature. He really didn’t know what had happened, only that Laurel was doing something totally different, and from the looks of things, she seemed to know what she was doing, considering the thing was screeching in a loud, and most ugly tone. Eventually, however, it finally died with the help of Isobel.

“Way to go Yorik,” Corum complimented his staff. “Now it’s time to find some clothes.” Fortunately Ravin was there, and Corum was quick to get some pants on. He then quickly dressed, and made sure he had everything he had come in with. “Some party that turned out to be,” he mumbled to himself as he made his way out of the cave toward the campsite.

*************

Valhorek had just finished with Alakbar, who was now sound asleep when Ravin called his name, and informed him of the various injuries that had been sustained by the various members of the group. Val prepared what was necessary, and headed to the campfire. His first duty was to set some water boiling so that he would have something to mix the herbs in.

Tristan was just showing up with Marz, and a quick look at the youth told the healer that he was having trouble breathing, which could only mean some broken ribs. Before he had a chance to start on the youth, Isobel collapsed next to Ravin. Valhorek did a quick check of the woman, and realized that poison had just started to course through her body. It wasn’t anything deadly, merely a form of knock out poison meant to render the victim unconscious. Isobel could wait for now as he turned back to Marz. He laid the youth on the ground, as his psychic healing power went about to work. Marz had suffered some outward injuries, which would heal on their own, but more life threatening were his internal injuries, four broken ribs.

Slowly, and methodically, Valhorek used the inner healing powers he possessed to set the bones in place. He did not have the capability to actually heal them completely; that was the work of the body’s own mending capability. Rather, he could align them so that they would heal correctly, thus lessening the burden on the youth’s lungs, and make his breathing somewhat easier. Once he finished with all four ribs, Valhorek set about bandaging his chest tight enough so as not to cause further damage. “I realize you heal quickly Marz,” Valhorek stated. “But I think for now it’s best that your rest, and give your ribs some time to heal, or you’ll only cause further damage.”

The healer proceeded to take care of Marz’s wrist as well. Once finished with that, he reminded the youth that he wouldn’t be able to use his right hand for a few days. He then prepared a mixture of herbs, and tea, and gave it to the youth to drink. Val waited as the youth finally finished the sour tasting mixture, knowing his dislike for the concoction, but it was best for him.

Valhorek then spotted Ravin’s hand, and asked to see it. The gash was quite deep, and infection had already started to set in. The healer simply shook his head wondering what had caused so many injuries. As he continued, Ravin related the scope of incidents within the cave. Val cleaned out the wound, and applied the white powder. “This might burn somewhat,” Val stated as he felt a tug from Ravin’s hand. The powder was doing its job to disinfect the internal part of the injury. Once satisfied, Val applied the salve that would temporarily numb the hand so that he could suture it closed. With small, and delicate loops, he finally closed the wound, applied a salve to prevent any further infection, and wrapped the wound with clean bandages. “The numbing should go away in a few minutes,” Valhorek related. “However, you’ll probably feel a lot of pain. I suggest you drink this, not only for the pain, but to help it heal as well.” He passed the cup of tea, and herbs over to Ravin, realizing that the thief would probably follow his orders.

Rowan had just arrived with a dazed Tia, and explained to him what had happened. Valhorek simply nodded, and said he’d get to her once he finished with Isobel. Again, he used his inner powers, and found the poison was just as he suspected. He pulled out a small pouch that was pre-mixed with potent herbs, and mixed it with the tea. Once it cooled down, he lifted the head of Isobel, and slowly allowed the fluid to trickle down her throat without choking her. He then applied a paste to her arm where the unusual ring marks could be seen. The herbal concoction she had just drunk, along with the paste on the arms, would counteract the poison, and she would be fine in no time. He then checked on the gash on her thigh. It wasn’t too deep but needed to be taken care of. Since the woman was unconscious, it wasn’t necessary to use the salve to numb the area he was about to work on. He applied the white powder to clean the wound, sutured it up, applied the salve, and then wrapped the wound in clean bandages. As for her skinned elbows, Val simply cleaned them up, for there was no infection present.

Tia was placed next to him, and he bid her to lie down. He quickly noted the bump in her head. He held up his finger to her eyes, and moved it across her line of vision, and found to his dismay that there was no response. “Just relax,” Val soothing spoke. “Everything will be all right.”

Using the inner powers he possessed he searched the area of her head, and found that there was an increased amount of swelling, due partly to the knock she had suffered on her skull. More than likely, this was the cause of her clouded vision. Whenever someone suffered a concussion, there were always the possibilities that swelling within the cranial area could put pressure on a nerve, thus disrupting the use, and function of that particular organ. In this scenario, it was the absence of Tia’s vision.

Inspecting her skull with his inner powers once again, Val pulled out the numbing salve, and applied it to the side of her skull. Once it took effect, he pulled out a small cylindrical tube with a needle at one end, and a syringe on the other. He guided the needle into her head with the help of his inner healing power, careful not to push it in too far. He then was able to suck out some of the water, and puss that had formed within the cranial cavity. Another scan with his powers confirmed that most of the infection had been drawn out, and it was only a matter of time before her eyesight was restored.

Since that task had been accomplished he set about cleaning her head wound, eventually placing a bandage on it, and wrapping the other portion around her head. He mixed another mixture, this one for head injuries, and gave it to Rowan who was next to the woman. “It’ll probably taste very bad, but it will help speed along your recovery,” Val informed the young elf. “For now, simply rest, and don’t be too concerned. Everything will turn out well.”

Val finally looked at Tristan’s hand, and noted that he was suffering from a sever sprain. He bandaged the wrist tightly to prevent the dragon from moving it the wrong way. “You’ll simply have to let it heal by itself,” the healer instructed. “There’s nothing torn, and it simply needs to mend on its own.”

Finally, the healer tended to Justin, who had suffered from another head wound. Fortunately the merc was thick skulled, and no internal damage could be found. He cleaned up the wound, and bandaged it properly before returning to the campfire where he placed everything away for another time. He took a long sip of his whiskey, and wondered if this was why Erlic insisted on having him along.

“Isobel should be kept warm in case a fever should come,” Valhorek stated. “I’ve started a small fire in the cave where Alakbar is currently sleeping.” Erlic heard the comment, and proceeded to pick her up. Before taking her to the cave, he spoke to the rest of the group. “Perhaps we should all get some sleep,” he stated. “The morning will be here in no time, and we have to hope that all will be in somewhat of a good health so that we can leave before out other friends find out about their missing prisoner.”

With that he walked to the cave, and placed Isobel on a bedroll, covering her with a blanket. Since there was light in the cave due to the campfire, Erlic kept watch over both Alakbar, and Isobel, while proceeding to transcribe in his journal. This had been one interesting, and totally eventful day. Hopefully, it wouldn’t happen again for a while.
