Okay. so others in his class have had similar symptoms. And kids have gone to school sick. But these types of illnesses are often contagious BEFORE any symptoms occur. So, if those parent's HADN'T sent their kids to school sick, they still might have infected your child. And, he might have picked up this same bug from neighborhood friends, the grocery store ... even his own family eventually. I don't think you can pinpoint blame here on parents sending sick kids to school.

I"m not advocating sending a sick kid to school, by any means. If your kid is running a fever, contagious, or generally feeling badly, they should not go to school. But, my kid often goes with a runny nose, cough, rash, etc. As long as there is no harm to the other kids, and no harm to himself, I see no reason to keep him out of school. I'll sometimes keep them out, even if I think they're *just fine*, but usually only if my schedule allows it.

This week, ds has had a slightly drippy nose all week. But he had a regularly scheduled checkup Tues and there's nothing wrong ... other than allergies. Do I send him to daycare? You bet.

If I *know* or *think* my kid is contagious? No way do I send him. If I *know* he'll be miserable all day? No way do I send him. If he'll be a little cranky and they'll have to wipe his nose all day? Sure I'll send him.

Anyhoo ... i'm rambling now and hte phone has rang 3 times since I started this message so I've lost my train of thought

Hollie
