Subject: how about dance moms?

My mother is the epitomy of dance moms. I have 3 little sisters all much younger than me. We live on the Canadian border and the girls dance over there 7 days a week and have for almost 8 years. They are now competative dancers. My mother spends 7 days a week over in canada with them from 4:00 on weekdays till8:00 or 9:00. on weekends it is usually all day. She braveshuge lines on the bridge at the border sometimes she can wait an hour or two especially after 9/11.She spends thousands a year on company fees and costumes and entry fees and travel expences. And has taken second jobs to pay for it. Last summer she babysat for me to pay for dance.

This year my oldest daughter started in dance she took a jazz and a ballet class. My mother paid for one. I still have to pay for recital costumes at 80-100 dollars canadian or 50-65 american plus shoes and tickets.

My middle daughter tried it but was too shy and just stood there so I took her out and I'll try again next yer. My youngest who is two is already being coached by her aunties and will start next year.

I have already told my mother that I will not be able to put the amount of time and money into it that she does. Her theory on it is if she keeps them busy they won't have time to get into trouble and since they arn't great in school she want's to give them something they can feel good about. Something they are good at.

But she is starting to get tired of it. The dance studio who mainly caters to doctor's daughter's keeps raising prices and finding new ways to get more money for example; They have added a $3.00 (american) administration charge to the entry fees. Just to write the names and ages of the girls on a paper. Well $3.00 for one number is not bad but when you have 20 numbers that adds 60.00 to each competition and there are 4 of them that is an extra 240.00 for nothing.

I think my mother is verry dedicated to her children but it is a bit ridiculous. They even go when they are sick.
