Subject: I thought only almost 6YO's did the carrying thing

with the new baby. Didn't realize it was an option open to all kids.

The only thing I did was try and spend some quality time with just her...even if it meant going to the store alone for a 5 minute milk run. It seemed to work. This might also sound horrible to some, but I also let the baby cry on occasion if I was just finishing up with a bedtime story or helping her with her homework. I was "there" with the baby, I just didn't pick her up and it wasn't for then a moment or two. I think it made dd feel that she was still important and the baby wasn't the only thing on my mind.

Also, try getting him involved by having him fetch diapers, shake the formula in the bottle, or if your bf'ing read him a story at that time...have him get a bib or burp cloth, teach him how to "pat" the babies back for you...the simple stuff.

This might not be an option for a 3YO but my saving grace when all else failed was my evil raised eyebrow look and sending her off to play with her friends before I blew my lid.
