dh's father passed away last year. His mother lives in another state and never visits, rarely calls. I actually hound dh to call her at least once a month or so-he has nothing in common with her and says she is depressing to talk to. She and I have always gotten along fine, as have his sisters and I.

My family lives nearby, there is never any real arguing or anything between any of us. My 2 brothers fight with each other, but no one else seems to get drawn into it. My dad and brothers hang out at our house all the time. dh actually really likes it-he never had a family like that so he thinks its cool. My mom lives about an hour away, we see her on the weekends. Heck she and my dad have been divorced for over 30 years and act like best friends.

I dont know, we must just be a rather low conflict family, lol! We may talk and debate on occasion, but I dont think anyone has ever gotten upset enough to not speak to anyone else.
