In reply to: Skye 's message, "How do you handle in-law issues?" on 15:13:10 04/17/03 Thu

Our relationship goes in waves; most often, we get along fine, then we have moments when we don't. I do not confront her, directly, on issues, however, like I would/do with my own parents (which is pretty amazing for me, since I'm pretty much a "don't pull punches" kinda person, too).

However, with the in-laws, I am aware that the dynamics of our relationship are unique. As much as I know they love me, and I love them, I am, when it's all cut and dried, married to their son. And we all know how we feel about our children. And moms, especially, are always right, no matter what the issue!

Most often, I just let things slide, knowing it'll blow over. On those rare occasions when I was upset enough, though, I would talk to my husband about it, who in turn, would just let his mom know how I was feeling and why. It's always worked well for us.
