My 10 year old dd is playing softball right now. She has practice on Mondays from 6-7:30pm, has batting practice on Thursday night at the batting cages (6-7pm), and a game on Saturday afternoon which she needs to be at the field an hour prior to the game for practice. That's 3 days of practice a week, two of which are school nights that we need to plan our lives around SOFTBALL. And we've been doing this since January. The season won't end until mid-May! Don't get me wrong, I am glad she likes softball and is doing well, but c'mon! These are a bunch of 8-10 year old girls.

I too expect that practice will end at 7:30. Not 7:40 or 7:45. I thought it was just me since many of the parents I see at the field seem to be as "into" these children's activitites as much (if not MORE) than their kid. When it's 7:30 on a school night, I'd like my family to (finally!) have dinner together. I'd like my dd to have some time to unwind from her day before it's bedtime. She needs a shower and time to gather her stuff for school the following day.

She has to do all this in an hour and a half -- less if the coach wants to chat with the team.

Grrrrrrr
