Subject: There was this attitude that I totally despised

from some parents in that because their WHOLE life centered around one activity they expected it from others. I remember telling a scout mother who was trying to lay a guilt trip on me ( I couldn't arrange for our son to do some scout activity because we were actually planning on taking a family trip to san antonio that weekend for my daughters birthday) that I did not have my son join the scouts to have a *life*, but to be part of enriching his life. That I did not need the scouts to make our family whole and happy, that our family does other things. What is it with some of these parents. when my son was in soccer it was the same thing and I hated the stress it put on my son. If I wanted him to be a professional soccer player it is one thing, but soccer was *supposed* to be fun. I wanted my children to grow up eniriched by these experiences, not used for the egos of some parents and coaches.
