The point is, regardless of minor inconsistencies, many of which I don't have a problem with because I really like what Brian and Kevin did with the characters, those are the guys who are going to do Dune 7.

If they say that the groundwork for Dune 7 is being laid down in their prequels, then you can bet that's what's going to happen.
In terms of ways changing, the tone of the first three books of the original series was completely changed by Chapterhouse in my opinion. The new stories are building upon the old ones, shedding new insight into them, creating different perspectives than there were before.
The work is NOT fan-fiction and as I said, is not negating what took place in the originals or the excellence of those books. It is okay not to like the new books, but to deny their place in the scheme of things is just ignorant in my opinion.
