I think it would be beneficial to Dune to open it up to a number of authors. Create a series or collection of short stories written by others that doesn't touch on the main themes of the novels, but are interesting and important none the less. And which might lead to other options or ideas for novels. I, for one, think there are many many authors who could take Dune to a new level, without dumbing it down.

Brian can have the big hardcover bestsellers......but I want to see what some of the cutting edge talent out there could do with this universe......It's a huge playground and even the big names in sci-fi, I'm sure, would jump at the chance.
