I think the escapees are still a part of the story. From previous readings i assumed that the the BG/HM merging was really just going to explode in their faces. I am not so sure about that anymore, but i still dont think that scytale, duncan, teg, and gang are gone for good.

It never even occured to me that they wouldnt be in D7 until Cannabist kept repeating "they are gone!" I always saw them as an integral part of the next evolution.

I have no concrete idea of what Daniel and Marty really represent (besides independent/evolved Face Dancers). But i think they are a part of what frightened the HM (along with the machines). And Duncan doesnt seem to be powerless against them. Also, Sheanna is a key. Murbella was talking with Dar in other memory in the end and they discussed that Sheanna was the next step and she presented a 'bitter medicine' and from that bitter medicine comes new and interesting patterns.

I have no idea what all that really means in the big picture sense...and if someone has a clue please let me know. But in any case, I dont think that the lost noship is all that lost.
