She refused to buy kitchen curtains, knowing we'd be moving again in 9 months to a year. (We did that for 4 solid years!) Instead, she bought towels.

She'd fold one end over and sew a seam to make a rod pocket...that would be the bottom curtain. For the top she used hand-towels along the top. Even in today's money you could make a set for under $10 if you get cheapies.

It might be something you could use to make-do until something good comes along!
