時正三月，美國 NCAA 大學籃球正打到精采處；三十一個聯盟正各自展開季後賽，而每個聯盟的季後賽冠軍，都可獲得 NCAA 全國賽的參賽資格。
話說，全美大學男子籃球共有三百二十六支甲組隊伍，而全國賽只有六十五個席位。除卻了三十一個聯盟冠軍自動入選外，餘下的三十四席，是由 NCAA 委任出一個獨立委員會，經過開會商討後邀請的；邀請準則保密，但主要是根據各隊的整季成績，依據一個方程式計算出名為 RPI（Ratings Percentage Index）的指數，來比較各隊的強度。
美國的體育項目講求數字化，樣樣有統計，已儼然成為一門專門學問，甚至一盤生意。例如以上這個 RPI 指數，有人就自行成立網站，在每年球季開始後周周更新資料，提供各隊的最新 RPI；而到了季末，網主又先行預測六十五隊入選名單，準確度達百分之九十九！此君近年已成為了 RPI 專家，全職從事此門事業，又經常被邀請上體育節目，為 NCAA 分析形勢。
當然，他的網站是收費的，年費十五美元；其中一個經常訂戶就是小弟。連香港咁遠啲錢都俾岏�魽A你話妗o唔發？
