砂膠？甚麼是「砂膠」？
八十年代以後出生的朋友，未必會知道。因為在八十年代伊始，這個世界就出現了一種叫做「塗改液」的東西，不出幾年就完全替代了砂膠的地位。
不過說實在，砂膠也從來沒有甚麼地位。它其實是擦字膠的親戚，不過擦字膠（簡稱「擦膠」）專責擦去鉛筆錯字，而砂膠則負責難度較高的工作：擦原子筆錯字。
可是，這種工作是十分粗暴的，與其說是「擦字」，不如說是「拆紙」！砂膠的確是含有磨砂的一塊膠（也有鉛筆狀的），利用其砂把紙張的面層磨走；所以，實情是夾硬把字連紙一同消滅！倘若紙張太薄的話，砂膠一擦便穿；但就算不穿，紙上仍會留下相當顯見的「疤痕」。
我的學生時代，老師常禁止我們使用砂膠，尤其在考試卷上，寫錯了只能用筆刪去，不能用砂膠擦改。所以說，砂膠沒有甚麼地位，因為根本不常用。
塗改液出現之後，砂膠自然更「冇定企」了！後來又有塗改筆、改錯帶等更趨方便的文具，還有人會用砂膠嗎？我自己就起碼二十年沒有用過了。（《絕種東西系列》之三）
