Hi... First, yes it's OK to give bonelss baked chicken as a treat! Second, try walking Lady at times when there are going to be less people/distractions around, like in the early morning or late evening. If those aren't good times for you, try walking her in a place where few distractions exist. Then gradually increase the distractions. WWW.DEAFDOGS.ORG has some great tips on socialization and desensitizing a deaf dog over time.
My guy, Charlie, came from the pound and was abused by his previous owner who was a complete moron and never figured out he was deaf in the 1 1/2 yrs he had him - he just thought he was ignoring him!!! Charlie (lucky me) has had few problems with distractions, however, it did take a little time for him get used it all and now everyone and everything is very familiar to him. Deafdogs.org is a GREAT resource - you can find tips on all kinds of things. Good Luck!
