I have worked with my mom in the real estate/appraisal business my entire life. The tips given should work - especially the chocolate chip cookies/baked apples aroma throughout the house - works the psyche and helps make a house a "home..." Plus little touches like a vase of fresh flowers.

One more thing - turn on all the lights for an open house - makes rooms seem larger and adds to the homey feel as well.

Don't forget street appeal as well - a nicely trimmed yard, minimal weeds, clean & empty garage and/or shed.

A fresh coat of paint helps too... and if you have scratches in the interior doors, or baseboards just go over them with a matching stain - they melt away.
