No worries, lots of hoods are nervous the first time. It really all depends.
The shurb is a good idea-or either move in a caretaker.
In Apple Valley we have several ways of dealing with exchanges: In terms of lots: Our hood moves the families to an empty lot and then they fly out to the other hood. The family remains on the empty lot and doesn't participate in the rotation until thier return from the hosting hood. Once they return, they move back to thier home and join the rotation. They retain no local memories of the event, but have lots of photos. If they wish to bring souveniors back, then the host hood returns the family and the *new* family moves into the empty lot, exchanges gifts and souveniors and then the *old* family moves back home. If a family wants to return with a spouse or child, then the *new* family returns to the hood and we use SimPE to repair family ties and help with friendship ties as well. Also, while the family is gone, we ask hosting hoods to submit photos so the families can keep thier journals up to date and have memories. We do this method of travel since it requires very little hood infrastructure to move in the photos of sims from other hoods that they meet (see the SUN moving instructions/details). If you want more detailed questions, email me (starrsim@yahoo.com) our hood has been doing exchanges for a while starting with SUPERSTAR Alisa Crawston from the old dimension and continuing today with travel for show business and leisure.
