In Apple Valley we have a restriction on family names/huoseholds-though it's a LOT stricter than Simmerville's. Our policy is that there be only one family name/household and then no more than 10 households in the hood-as then time would move too slowly. To compenstate we have created two complex lots: River Glen Apartments-a four unit building; and River Glen Townhomes-also a four unit building. This method ensures variety in DNA and surnames as well. Some families were upset at first-saying that this would limit thier ability to have children, but after explaining that they could still have as many children as they desired, but only one could inherit the house and the others must marry into other families or rent property-they were fine with the new policy.
