this would probably be the worst thing that could happen.The Town Centre shops are already in decline due to competition from the large supermarkets on it's periphery.Now you suggest we do the same ting to the local pubs,for some of them at least their survival is dependant in part on trade the can drum up from providing food.How can the be expected to compete with Wetherspoons 2 meals and £1 a pint offers.All we will be left with is even more empty buildings,I doubt if Wetherspoons would buy up these propertys(and watch them fall down)as did Tesco's with Lo Cost.I need not even mention the effect readily available cheap booze would have on some elements of our society.I also doubt if publicans in Ebbw Vale would agree with your view point.If you visit any Wetherspoons on Monday when they are selling at a pound a pint,you'll see all the punters that would previously been giving their business to the other locals.
